Reassigning a sale to another chatter

Sometimes a sale is credited to the wrong chatter — a conversation was handed over between shifts, or the wrong person was logged. DirtyDialogues lets a manager reassign a sale from one chatter to another (or to the agency), which moves both the sale credit and the commission to the correct person.

Who can do this

Reassigning a sale requires Chat Manager access (or higher) — the same clearance as the Chatter Performance screen. Regular chatters can't reassign sales; they only see their own.

Where to find it

Go to Performance → Chatter (Chatter Performance). In the sales table, every row has a "Sold By" dropdown and, next to it, a "Changed By" column.

How to reassign a sale

  1. Open Performance → Chatter and filter to the period that contains the sale.
  2. Find the sale you want to reassign in the sales table.
  3. In that row, open the "Sold By" dropdown and choose the new chatter (chatter B) — or choose Agency to credit the house instead of an individual.
  4. Confirm the prompt: "Change 'Sold By' from A to B?" → "Yes, reassign."
  5. The "Changed By" column now shows who made the change.

What happens to the credit and commission

This is the important part — reassigning is not just cosmetic:

  • The sale's "Sold By" is rewritten to the new chatter, and "Changed By" records who did it.
  • It works retroactively. Any sale can be reassigned, including older ones. The sale keeps its original date — reassigning does not change when the sale happened, only who it's credited to.
  • Commission and payouts follow "Sold By." Reporting and payout are calculated on whoever is currently set as "Sold By," so reassigning moves both the sale credit and the commission from chatter A to chatter B — retroactively. There is no separate adjustment line; the commission is simply re-derived from the new "Sold By."
  • The change is visible in reporting immediately: the sale then counts toward chatter B (or the Agency) instead of chatter A in the performance figures.

Crediting the Agency (house) instead of a chatter

Choosing Agency in the "Sold By" dropdown attributes the sale to the agency/house rather than to any individual chatter. Use this when a sale shouldn't count toward a specific person's numbers.

Good to know

  • Only the most recent change is recorded ("Changed By"). If a sale is reassigned more than once, you'll see who changed it last, not the full history — so double-check before reassigning.
  • Because commission follows "Sold By," reassigning a sale that has already been paid out affects how the numbers reconcile — reassign promptly when you spot a mis-credit.
